TOUR DE TRI 24 HOUR 2011

The Tour de Tri 24 hour was held on the 13th and 14th August 2011. With over 200 competing and 21 in the individual 24 hour competition it was a great event.

There were some fantastic efforts out there on the day with the ladies showing their staying power to take out the two of the top three spots. Kylie Gaffel completed 27 laps with Jason Black 2nd with 26 laps and Deborah Gabriel rounding out the top 3 with 23 laps.

In the teams you couldn't look past the 5 person team of Fitnance with a remarkable 42 laps or the 3 man team in red speedos 'Wet Dreams' who managed 39 laps.

In the 6 hour event we had Clinton Cooper fall less than a minute short of completing his 10th lap and having to settle for 9 laps just ahead of Robin Haywood. In the women Jenny Alcorn just held off Carol Hitchcock by 2 minutes to take out the title with 8 laps.

While all these guys completed mammoth efforts over the weekend it really is a great event for families as well as those new to triathlons. So next year come grab your tent, the kids and a few mates and join in!
